The Dream of Brutus

Today I am writing about my frightening and (I think) symbolic dream.

In my dream, I was walking down a street on my way to my home when I was suddenly confronted by twelve tamanduas. As I reached for my sword, the tamanduas all jumped into the air and turned into hummingbirds. They zipped around my head and pecked out my eyes. I dropped to the ground, blinded. As I rolled on the ground in pain I heard someone approaching. I cried out to them to try to get them to help me.

"Nay, Brutus, Caesar will not help thee for thou plan to betray Caesar!" the voice of Caesar told me.

"Please Caesar! Help your loyal friend, your servant!" I cried.

"Caesar doest not yield to flattery Brutus!" Caesar yelled "but if you swear to be my slave for ever, Caesar shall help thou to thine home."

"I swear to be your slave forever my lord, Caesar!" I promissed.

"Then I shall aid you home" Caesar agreed.

As Caesar helped me on my way my eyes began to grow back so that by the time I got home, my eyesight had entirely returned. Caesar walked before me and led me by the arm. He did not notice as I reached for my sword.

"Caesar, you are not my lord!" I screamed and I slashed him through the heart.

As the bloody body fell to the ground, the humming birds returned. They surounded me and were suddenly transformed once again. They became common Romans that carried spears and torches.

"There is the murderer and betrayer!" they cried.

They ran at me yelling and screaming. I attempted to yield but they would not stop.

"Caesar!" I yelled "I join you now!"

As the spears pierced me, my real body felt pain and I awoke from my vision. I fear I have seen things to come and am therefore troubled. I hope that I do the right thing.
